We’re Hiring!

Clerk for the National Commission on Research Ethics

In 1974, the United States Congress established the National Commission on the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research in response to public concerns about human research, and the commission produced The Belmont Report, which established principles for human research. No similar effort has addressed the use of nonhuman animals in research. To address these gaps, the George Washington University Law School Animal Legal Education Initiative and Phoenix Zones Initiative have partnered toward the development of a National Commission on Research Ethics to mirror the composition and work of the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research. The project will include interdisciplinary historical analyses, scientific and legal research, and ethical inquiry. Reports will be made available to the public, professionals, and policy makers to better inform social and policy discourse related to scientific research.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Handle administrative duties for chairs of the commission.
  • Conduct research in support of the commission’s activities.
  • Prepare supporting materials, including legal documentation, for the project.

If you are interested in the position, send a brief email detailing your interest, and a resume or curriculum vitae, to operations@phoenixzonesinitiative.org.
